Ingredients in spinach and feta turkey burgers

Ground turkey

I recommend 93% lean ground turkey to help minimize excess fat without drying out the burgers. I find that the 99% ground turkey is a bit too lean for this recipe…and its pretty difficult to form into patties because it’s soooo sticky!

Spinach

A little bit of spinach adds some color and a bit of moisture during cooking to help these burgers stay juicy!

Feta

This is mainly for flavor…and let me tell ya – some creamy feta bits in these burgers are so good!!! 🙂

Red onion

Garlic powder

Oregano

Salt & pepper

Avocado oil

Or any other neutral oil suitable for higher temperature cooking.

Equipment Needed

Instructions

Step 1: Finely chop spinach and red onion.
Emphasis on finely chop! If the pieces are too big, the patties won’t hold their shape as well

Step 2: If feta is not already crumbled…crumble into small pieces

Step 3: Add spinach, red onion, and feta along with seasonings to a medium sized bowl with the ground turkey

Step 4: Mix all ingredients together with your hands until combined

Step 5: Form into 4 or 5 even burger patties

Step 6: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat

Step 7: Add burger patties to skillet and cook for ~5-6 minutes per side or until internal temperature reaches 165F.
I usually add the lid to my skillet for the first 5 minutes of cooking.
I highly suggest using a kitchen thermometer! Overcooking any burgers can yield a dryyyyyy end result!

Step 8: Serve immediately and store cooled leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge
